Site Erection

Site erection is the stage in which fabricated parts become a working plant. Simgetek carries out mechanical, structural, piping and equipment erection with its own site management and site teams, serving projects that range from industrial plants and refineries to pipelines and large steel structures.

Because the fabrication is done by the same organisation, dimensional problems that would otherwise first appear on site are found and corrected in the workshop.

Scope of Site Erection Work

  • Steel structure erection
  • Mechanical equipment installation and alignment
  • Storage tank erection and site testing
  • Process piping and pipe support installation
  • Pipeline work, including station mechanical scopes
  • Installation of pre-fabricated equipment and client-supplied items such as pumps, fans and motors
  • Controlled hydraulic tensioning and torque bolting
  • On-site welding, weld inspection and non-destructive testing
  • Support during site testing and commissioning

Industrial Plants, Refineries and Petrochemical Plants

In the process industries, equipment is designed, fabricated, erected and tested as part of a larger plant. At this level, Simgetek takes responsibility for complete equipment and piping scopes:

    • Fabrication and erection of process and pressure equipment
    • Fabrication and erection of process piping
    • Fabrication and erection of steel structures
    • Dismantling and re-erection work in existing plants
    • Support during site testing and commissioning

Pipeline Work

Pipeline scopes combine high weld volumes, strict inspection requirements and demanding schedules. Our scope typically includes:

  • Pipe spool pre-fabrication under workshop conditions
  • Pipe welding and installation on site
  • Fabrication and installation of pipe supports
  • Mechanical work at compressor, metering, block valve and pigging stations
  • Installation of mechanical equipment and storage tanks within station scopes
  • Weld inspection, non-destructive testing and hydrostatic testing

Coating Quality Control

  • Mobile cranes for lifting and setting heavy assemblies
  • Telescopic forklifts, personnel lifts and articulated boom lifts
  • Self-propelled transporters for moving heavy loads within the site
  • Hydraulic bolt tensioning heads and pneumatic torque equipment for large-diameter bolted joints
  • Measuring instruments such as rotating lasers, theodolites and optical levels for alignment checks
  • Portable machining, bevelling and heat treatment equipment
  • Generators, compressors and welding equipment for working independently on site

Why It Is Done In-House

  • Fabrication and coating are scheduled together; delays caused by outside applicators are eliminated
  • Surface defects are found and corrected while the equipment is still in the workshop
  • The risk of damage during transport to and from an outside coating facility is eliminated
  • Coating records become part of the same quality documentation as the fabrication
